About Shibui 18 Year Old Single Grain Whisky
Launched in 2020, Shibui (“timeless”) is a Japanese whisky brand that is focused on sourcing exceptional whisky from Japanese distilleries, collaborating with them for the distillation, maturation, and marrying of each different release. All of their releases are uncolored and non-chill-filtered with a focus on whisky from Niigata and Okinawa regions, showcasing multi-cask maturation through the first and single-grain whiskies that the second is known for. Shibui 18 Year Old Single Grain Whisky was distilled in Okinawa at the Kumesen Distillery from premium Indica long-grain rice using a stainless steel pot still. The whisky was matured in fino and manzanilla sherry casks for 18 years before being bottled at 80 proof. The lightness of the rice whisky really lets the sherry influence shine.

About Japanese Whisky
Although maybe not be the first Spirit you would think of when Japan is mentioned; the Japanese make one of the best types of whisky in the world. It’s heavily influenced by scotch but with smoother and delicate notes.
The history of the Japanese whisky is not even a century old, but in this short time, the Japanese blended and single malts have taken over the world by storm and can easily go against their whisk(e)y counterparts from across the globe.
